Astro photography highlights

The following video is a timelapse of some highlights recorded during the Aurora Australis on the 11th of May 2024, recorded in Victoria, Australia.

Aurora Highlights south over the ocean. The timelapse was recorded between 10:30pm-2am.

Stellar flyby simulations

The following videos depict one of the flyby simulations presented in On the rise times in FU Orionis events (Borchert et al., 2022), showing temperature and column density evolutions.

Side view temperature of a stellar flyby with a periastron distance of 20 AU. The bottom right shows the accretion rates of both stars. Turn the audio on to also hear an audible representation of the mass accretion rates added together.

Side view column density of a stellar flyby with a periastron distance of 20 AU. The bottom right shows the accretion rates of both stars.
